Hey Pierre! Tell us a bit about yourself and how you first came across tricount.

Hi! I’m originally from Cannes in the south of France, and I moved to Amsterdam a year ago for work. I’ve been using tricount for around 10 years now—basically since high school. I found it through friends back then, and it’s just stuck with me ever since. I travel a lot for work and fun, so it’s been super useful over the years.

How do you usually use tricount?

Mostly for group trips! Anytime I’m away with friends—whether it’s a weekend away, a road trip, or just a short holiday—we create a new tricount for the trip. Everyone adds their expenses as we go, and at the end, it’s all settled up automatically. No awkward conversations about who owes what.

My roommate and I use tricount to split groceries, utilities, even little things like cleaning supplies. We just add stuff in whenever we pay for something, and then settle it at the end of each month.

Has living in Amsterdam changed how you use the app?

A bit, yeah! Back in France, I’d use tricount for big group dinners, parties, or shared travel costs with old friends. Now in Amsterdam, it’s more about weekend trips—Belgium, Germany, that kind of thing. It’s great how well tricount works across borders and currencies. I’m French, my roommate is Dutch, and there’s never any issue—it’s seamless for both of us.

What’s your favorite feature?

The flexibility! Not everything has to be split equally, which is great. On trips, some people might be eating out more or booking separate activities. With tricount, it’s easy to adjust for that, and everyone pays their fair share. It saves so much time and energy—no need to argue or do the math yourself.

Any standout tricount moments?

One trip to Prague really stands out. We were 15 people—a huge group—and the whole time, no one talked about money. There were no awkward moments, no stress about who paid what. Just fun. And I really think that’s because of tricount. It made everything so easy that we could just focus on enjoying ourselves.

Any advice for someone just getting started?

Yes—log in and create an account right away! I learned the hard way. I used to use the app without an account, and when I switched phones, I lost all my old tricounts. It sounds small, but I love looking back at those trips and all the little memories attached to them. Logging in means you keep that history safe.
